Warmer weather means easy, fresh snacks! Nothing better than fresh fruits and veggies (bonus if from one of our amazing local farmer's markets!)
Our kids LOVE when we serve them a special snack. This is a perfect snack to hold the kids over 'til dinner, or it would even be great for a pre-dinner appetizer surprise!
Fruit & Veggie Flower
What you need:
Strawberries, sliced like circles
Purple grapes and/or blueberries (remember to quarter grapes if serving to under 4 years old)
Cucumber, celery and/or zucchini, sliced lengthwise
Carrots, sliced lengthwise
Cheese (optional) to add to the "grass" look
Cheese (optional) to add to the "grass" look
What you do:
After washing and slicing the fruit, assemble on a plate or platter into the shape of a flower with grass, and serve. Make one of the following dips to go along with the special flower treat, if you'd like.
Honey Cream Cheese Dip
What you need:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup honey (you can use less, if you'd rather)
2 tablespoons milk (I've also used vanilla yogurt instead of milk)
What you do:
Blend all ingredients together. Add a little milk at a time (and up to a total of 4 Tbsp) to reach desired consistency. Refrigerate until serving.
Cinnamon Honey Dip
What you need:
1 cup vanilla yogurt (use Greek for more protein)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
What you do:
Mix all ingredients and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
