Famous first words. Every birthday morning. As a kid I remember feeling like something should just be different on my birthday. But year after year I woke up to the day being just like the day before. The air was the same, the food tasted the same, my bedroom looked the same. Although I have always been appreciative for my many blessings I always wished something would just be... different. At least on my birthday.
As a parent I decided to try to make things different for my kids on their birthdays. When we started our family we struggled financially, as do many families. So funds weren't there to make it spectacular by waking up in a fancy resort or on a wonderful vacation. Instead, we started a really fun tradition that has become one of my children's favorite parts of their birthday!
Balloons. We fill their room with them. Sometimes we do a few helium (but let's face it, those suckers get expensive when filling a room!) So we just sit and blow up balloon after balloon after balloon. Usually I do something really fun with them that the kids enjoy batting around the room- I make Balloon Balls.
